This business growth and ongoing development of the team has led to the requirement of an Accounts Assistant. This role will be responsible for processing, recording and reconciling accounts; preparing reports in compliance with established policies and regulations; submission and recording of tax; and liaising with group head office where appropriate.

Overview of Role:

The role requires a candidate with hands on experience of balance sheet reconciliations, bank reconciliations and a good understanding of the basic principles of financial accounting. However, this is a role where there will be support and the opportunity to fully develop your financial accounting skills and gain exposure to all areas of accounting and finance. The role includes:

  • To provide administrative and secretarial support to Principal
  • To ensure that there are systems in place for maintaining complete and accurate client records
  • Organising and prioritising future commitments to ensure schedules are not overloaded.
  • Company Secretarial tasks such as company formation and other technical tasks
  • General bookkeeping duties
  • Completion of on-line submissions to HMRC and Companies House
  • Complete VAT returns for clients
  • Completing self-assessment tax returns for clients
  • Responsibility for running the payrolls for clients and liaising with HMRC to resolve queries
  • Help prepare statutory financial statements
  • Maintaining and reconciling balance sheet accounts including weekly bank reconciliations
  • Analysing balance sheets
  • Maintaining and accounting for fixed assets, depreciation, and amortisation
  • Work to ensure compliance in all financial transaction

Requirements

A minimum of 3 GCSEs at Grade C/4, including C/4 in maths and English (or the equivalent) is required for this programme.

  • Fluent spoken and written English
  • Ability to work alone and with other people.
  • IT skills – knowledge of social media, send and receive email, data entry.
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced dynamic environment.
  • Successfully manage multiple tasks & priorities.
  • Strong time management & demonstrable experience in meeting deadlines & targets.
  • Attention to detail & deliver high quality work.
  • Excellent verbal & written communication.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outloo
  • Willing to learn.
  • Able to follow instructions and remain calm.
  • Proactive / self-starter with positive can-do attitude.
  • Excellent interpersonal & teamwork skills cultivating long term relationships at all levels of own & customer’s organisation.
