Responsibilities will include:

  • To supervise and audit the installation and integration of the fabric and structural elements of the project to the quality required
  • Monitoring progress against programme highlighting areas of concern
  • Organising out of hours working associated with Fabric demolition and installation
  • Responsible for organising vibration monitoring liaising with main contractor and all stakeholders at NG
  • Organising Vibration trials with key departments
  • Liaise with Professional team, Client and contractors
  • Manage/ supervise project and refurbishment work
  • Manage handover requirements including quality checks and sign off
  • Prioritise variations to projects within delegated authority, or obtain additional approvals from line managers as required
  • Attends workshop meetings, progress meetings
  • Attends specific meetings relating to the protection of the collection with Scientific, Conservation, Curatorial departments

Benefits

The role sits in the Research Centre with a particular focus on the library and archive collections. The position assists the Research Centre Manager, Librarian and Archivist, and works in conjunction with the Library and Archive Assistants, to ensure that the collections are well maintained and organised, so that physical and intellectual access to the collections can be provided to both internal and external researchers. The position has a reader services function in invigilating external visitors and responding to enquiries.

Requirements

Must have at least GCSEs at grades A*-C/9-4 (or equivalent) in maths and English and A Levels (or equivalent)

Have good inter-personal skills, be able to communicate clearly both by verbal and written methods.
