Main responsibilities and tasks:


  • To undertake reception duties ensuring safety procedures regarding signing in etc are followed and dealing with routine face-to-face enquiries   
  • Answer the school phone, dealing with routine enquiries and taking accurate messages
  • Make phone calls under the direction of school personnel
  • Support the school in collecting and delivering students to/from class for appointments, etc


  • Operate relevant equipment/ICT packages (e.g., Word, Excel, databases, spreadsheets, internet)
  • Provide routine clerical support e.g., filing, complete standard forms, emailing, photocopying and laminating
  • Maintain manual and computerised records and information systems
  • Undertake routine administration e.g., registers
  • Sort and distribute mail


  • Be aware of and comply with policies and procedures relating to child protections, security, confidentiality and data protection, reporting all concerns to an appropriate person 
  • To adhere to school health and safety policy including risk assessment and safety systems
  • To adhere to school policy on equality and diversity
  • To contribute to the overall ethos/aims of the school
  • To appreciate and support the roles of other professionals
  • Attend and participate in relevant meetings as required  
  • Participate in training opportunities and professional development as required
  • Undertake similar clerical duties commensurate with the level of the post as required by the Head Teacher

Apprentices must show commitment to the following: 

  • To achieve apprenticeship framework (Functional Skills, NVQ and Technical Certificate) within the specified time frame  <

GCSEs at grades C/4 or above (or equivalent) in maths and English.

  • Must be reliable and have a good attendance
