Why We Need You

The apprenticeship is designed to help individuals gain knowledge of the engineering industry. It will provide insight into the different tasks carried out but in particular will focus on welding helping the individual to assess their own suitability to the role and work environment.

During the apprenticeship your tasks will include:

  • Attention to detail in the form of developing a detailed understanding of fabrication drawings
  • Best practice welding and fabrication
  • Keeping work area safe in line with health and safety


An excellent opportunity has arisen for a trainee to join the team at John Scott Works.

John Scott Works is connecting the famous craftsmanship of the steel industry championed in the Black Country with todays smart technology by investing in skilled people, production equipment and facilities.

We do so as a specialist designer, manufacturer and installer of mezzanine floors. The mezzanines are produces completely in house. We use state-of-the-art technology like cold roll forming and robot welding. The cold formed system that constitutes the John Scott Works mezzanine floor provides a cost-effective, practical, innovative and aesthetically pleasing alternative to the traditional hot rolled design.
