What to expect
This is an exciting opportunity to kick-start an exciting career at JLA as an Apprentice Installations Engineer, working with our customers across care, hospitality, education, housing, healthcare and prison services. You’ll have the opportunity to really develop your technical understanding by getting the opportunity to install a variety of laundry and catering that our customers need. The in the field jobs you complete will be either for our new customers or when existing customers in new machine, so you’ll get to see how we really make a difference to our customers and supports our mission of ‘we take care of it’. This role will really suit you if you like to understand how machines work, get to work with a variety of tools, and learn from the very best from our talented team of engineers.
We are investing in training and development for our Engineers with our new ‘JLA Academy’, which will provide you with the opportunity to learn and develop your knowledge, skills and experience. We will be running in-house courses to develop your mechanical and electrical skills, enhance your product knowledge on JLA laundry machines and provide personal development opportunities. Future career opportunities may include joining our team of Field Service Engineers as one of our technical ‘problem experts’, looking to identify root cause of running issues or servicing our customers with planned maintenance activities
Key tasks
Install laundry & catering equipment as and when directed by the Installations team
Carry out comprehensive, competent, and safe remedial repairs to customer and Company satisfaction
Clean equipment and the immediate vicinity of the machine after completion of site work, leaving the site clean and tidy
Complete and provide reports in relation to work and equipment as required, including reporting your arrival and departure from each call and obtaining customer signature where required
Drive the implementation of engineering best practice processes, procedures and tools that maximise effectiveness and efficiency
Maintain technical and system updates and releases as required
Manage tooling and van stocks as well as job part orders appropriately by receipting, consuming or returning for each job
Support growth generation by submitting lead opportunities
Service Delivery
Maintain our reputation within the industry by demonstrating excellent customer service practices, acting responsively to the needs of the customer with the aim of delivering customer satisfaction
Manage on-site customer queries in a fair and courteous manner
Handle any challenging situations with customers in a professional and courteous manner at all times.
Be responsive and cooperative and achieve the required tasks set
Managing Health & Safety
To carry out all activities with proper regard for personal safety and the safety of colleagues and customers by ensuring adherence and reasonable care of H&S regulations and procedures at all times
Report identified risks in line with H&S procedures
Attend H&S training and briefings on a regular basis

Requirements
Knowledge and Skills (what you know and what you can do)
Proficient level of computer skills
Good knowledge of the English language, both written and verbal
Desirable –
Knowledge of electrical and plumbing work
Technical certificate in electrical installation

Qualifications
Maths and English GCSE’s or equivalent at a grade C or above (Grade 4 or higher)
Desirable –
