Why We Need YouPosted:
The English Department: The Greenwood Academy English Department believes in a knowledge rich curriculum, in which our students are exposed to the greatest literature texts possible. Our KS3 curriculum includes the study of Dickens, Shakespeare and Blake as well as more modern texts such as Blood Brother and Refugee Boy- ensuring that students are challenged and have access to a variety of literary viewpoints and perspectives. We use knowledge booklets in all year groups that include detailed analysis of the texts and contextual factors that may have influenced the authors, ensuring teachers are provided with all the resources they need to succeed. We also strongly encourage students to frame texts by looking at them from a gendered, class based or race based perspective- both through our analysis of literary texts and our language schemes which centre around themes such as inequality. All students have access to the same high level knowledge regardless of previous attainment or additional needs.
In what we believe to be an exciting opportunity we are looking for an English Apprentice Teacher to join us who will be interested in training to become a teacher. Working within a school is rewarding, challenging and where no two days are the same. Dependant on the needs of the successful candidate you will learn about the subject, behaviour management, assessment for learning and how learning and teaching go hand in hand.
