Rockets are Springpod’s new reward system, designed to recognise meaningful student actions as they explore careers, engage with learning, and make choices about their future.

Each Rocket reflects progress — whether that’s completing a virtual work experience programme, starting a new Skills for Life module, exploring an employer pathway, or updating post-16 and post-18 decisions.

Rockets are not about competition for its own sake. They are about:

encouraging students to try new experiences

rewarding reflection and informed decision-making

helping students feel a sense of momentum

Research consistently shows that young people are more likely to stay engaged when progress feels tangible and when they receive recognition for small, meaningful steps. Rockets are built around that principle.

The system supports your careers programme by:

Students receive immediate recognition for actions linked to career readiness and decision-making.

Rockets reward students for engaging with a broad mix of experiences, helping them understand what might suit them.

The system aligns with Benchmarks 2, 3, 4, 5, and 7 through encounters, reflection, recording destinations, and planned individual guidance.

✓ Strengthening post-16 and post-18 literacy

Rockets highlight the importance of informed choices — from GCSE subjects to apprenticeships, T Levels, HTQs, and university routes.

Students who return regularly, show persistence, and complete programmes receive structured recognition through Rocket earning and levelling.

Students earn Rockets by taking steps that reflect their growth — not just academic outcomes. We don’t publish the exact scoring values (these may evolve), but this section gives a clear overview of what is rewarded.

Supports Gatsby Benchmark 3 (addressing individual needs)

Improves destination data quality for schools

completing multiple learning moments over time

Rockets contribute to a student’s Progress Level, which reflects a combination of:

Levels are not comparative; they don’t rank students publicly. Instead, they give each young person a sense of long-term progression and achievement.

In the future, levels will be visible in the Educator Portal to support guidance conversations and reporting.
