In this course, you’re going to learn just what biomedicine is, and why it’s so important as not only a degree, but a career pathway. Once we’ve got the groundwork of this established, we’ll take a closer look at the sorts of things biomedics work on, with a focus on Haemolytic Disease of the Fetus and Newborn (HDFN). To give us a strong understanding of this disease, we’ll go through all the biological processes and components relevant to it, from antigens to antibodies, and red blood cells, too. Then, we’ll discuss the impact of the disease: who it could affect, and what the effects might be to newborns. We’ll round up with looking at how HDFN can be diagnosed and prevented.
