We've all heard the phrase computer science, but what actually is it? In this module we'll explain computer science, programming and coding in an easy to understand way. We're so confident that you'll get it, that our activity is even based on binary code!

Computer Science and Programming

We'll look at how data science can be applied to healthcare, artificial intelligence and data visualisation. Instead of just listing all this for you, we're using helpful examples that help wrap your head around it - like how surgical robots allow for operations to be performed with heightened precision. Nifty, right?

Data Science

There are loads of different types of engineer and all use technology to some extent but in this module we're going to focus on software engineers, including what they do and how you can become one. In this module's quiz, we're going to test you on everything you've learnt so far, from Bayesian reasoning to the  fifth stage of the engineering design process - yep, you'll really know it all!

Think it might be cool to have your own website? Us too! In this module you'll learn all about the web design process, common tools and platforms, and what makes a successful website. We will also break down some of those terms we hear all the time but don't know what they are, like front-end development. We've even thrown in a section on video game production for all you gamers out there.

So you know you're interested in tech, but don't know what your career options are or how to begin filling out that CV, well look no further! There's more to accountancy than being able to balance a T Table, in this module we're going to cover the ethical standards all accountants have to adhere to, the UK tax system and accounting theory. In this modules activity, we'll even teach you some life skills, such as how to calculate your income and the difference between gross and net pay.

When will I hear back if I have been successful with my application?

All live talks will be available as recordings. You can access these at the same link used to access the live event. So don’t worry if you can’t attend a live webinar, a recording will be available for you to access through your programme within 24 hours of the live event finishing.

What happens if I can't make a live talk/webinar?

You will have a chance to ask questions at the end of each webinar. These questions are typed out and then read to the presenter by the host of the live talk. There is no need to speak, and all student microphones will be muted for the duration of the live webinar.

The programme is open for students aged 14-19 and living in Bexley, Gravesham, Greenwich or Lewisham.

You’ll cover a wide range of opportunities throughout the programme, from nursing and Allied Health Professionals to non-clinical roles and routes into medicine. You’ll take part in quizzes and activities that test your knowledge and get to hear from the professionals along the way in live webinars!

Thank you for providing an opportunity for young people like me who had no previous exposure to the industry/ This programme has some great elements that differentiates itself from other work experience providers. The programme particularly focuses on ourselves: our confidence, our skills and what we want to do in the future rather than just the work opportunities available and how to get there. I've really enjoyed this programme and hope there would be more opportunities in this specific field
