Once you have applied for your programme, you will receive a confirmation email. You will be notified about the outcome of your application via email at least 3 days before the programme start date. Good luck!


When will I hear back if I have been successful with my application?

You’ll be accessing the programme on demand. This allows you the freedom to complete the modules any time to suit you within the termly programme dates, either at home or at school. All module content will be available for you to work through at your own pace, and you don’t have to complete it in one go. This also allows schools to fit the programme modules into a work experience week, ‘Futures’ week, PSHE or tutor time at school if you want students to take part as a bulk student cohort.

When will the programme take place and does it have to be completed in one go?

Applying for a place is simple. If you’re applying as an individual student, you’ll need to provide your full name and email address, set up a password, confirm you’re over the age of 13 and agree to our terms and conditions. If you’re a school or college wanting to apply for a bulk student cohort to take part get in touch with our schools and colleges lead Jo Bishop at jo.bishop@springpod.com.

If I’m successful in my application, how do I access the programme?

The programme is not just aimed at those aspiring to a career in financial services and showcases a wide range of careers and career pathways available within our organisation that you may not expect to find. Coventry Building Society have developed it as a part of the company’s secondary school outreach and wider ‘Better Futures’ community programme. Together, we’ve worked hard to ensure that whilst learning about Coventry Building Society, you will also develop non-career specific life skills and work readiness, making it therefore relevant to all students and career aspirations.

Do you have to want to work in financial services to take part?

We know that gaining credible work experience can be tough for young people and we want to help. Volunteering to take part in this programme shows self-initiative and drive, both of which are hugely attractive attributes to future employers, and to higher education providers. You don’t have to be the most confident, or the most academically gifted to take part. We just need you to be willing to get actively involved in the content and we’d strongly encourage you to complete all the modules included so that you receive a certificate of competition. Doing this will not only mean you gain maximum benefit from the programme, but it’ll also allow you to add onto your CV that you’ve taken part. A win win!

In this virtual work experience programme, you’ll explore the rail industry - from driving and engineering to data analytics and sustainability management. We've all heard the phrase computer science, but what actually is it? In this module we'll explain computer science, programming and coding in an easy to understand way. We're so confident that you'll get it, that our activity is even based on binary code!

We'll look at how data science can be applied to healthcare, artificial intelligence and data visualisation. Instead of just listing all this for you, we're using helpful examples that help wrap your head around it - like how surgical robots allow for operations to be performed with heightened precision. There are loads of different types of engineer and all use technology to some extent but in this module we're going to focus on software engineers, including what they do and how you can become one. From doctors, nurses, allied health professionals and more, there's something for everyone. You'll hear directly from healthcare professionals who've appeared in Channel 5's 999: Critical Condition via pre-recorded webinars where they answered questions from local students

Thank you for providing opportunity for young people like me who had no previous exposure to the industry/ This programme has some great elements that differentiates itself with other work experience providers. The programmeg particularly focuses on ourselves: our confidence, our skills and what we want to do in the future rather than just the work opportunities available and how to get there. I've really enjoyed this programme and hope there would be more opportunities into this specific field.
