In this Subject Spotlight we’ll be exploring the real-world impacts that climate change will have, and is already having, on human societies both across the globe and here in the UK. These include the impacts on the natural world caused by global warming and new social and political challenges around energy, food production, inequality and migration. Finally, you’ll finish the session by doing some of your own research into the geographies of our clothes.

Dr Matt Wilde
Dr Matt Wilde is a Lecturer in Human Geography who specialises in research on popular democracies and urban politics, energy and natural resources, morality and critical approaches to the state. Matt has conducted extensive ethnographic fieldwork in Venezuela since 2008. His first monograph, A Blessing and a Curse: Oil, Politics, and Morality in Bolivarian Venezuela, will be published by Stanford University Press in October 2023.
