In this exciting experience, you’ll take a deep dive into the world of storytelling in TV and Radio with Louise Ready-Syrat. In episode one, Louise introduces the fundamental ideas behind stories. She explores how emotion, structure, and implied narrative work together to create impact across TV, film, and radio. Through real examples, she highlights why understanding the deeper purpose of a story is essential for both creative and technical roles. In episode two, Louise explores how visual language shapes meaning, emotion, and narrative. She demonstrates how tools such as framing, lighting, colour, composition, and editing guide audience perception and emotional response. By examining perspective and point of view, she shows students how filmmakers construct deeper layers of storytelling through the choices they make behind the camera. In episode three, Louise introduces students to the power of audio as a storytelling medium, highlighting its ability to engage imagination and create intimacy. She explores the role of radio, podcasts, interviews, and sound design in shaping mood and meaning. Louise shows how sound can build entire worlds and connect audiences in ways that visuals alone cannot. In the final episode, Louise recaps all things storytelling and everything you’ve learned so far in the experience. Louise then sets you an activity that encourages you to find a story to tell, and asks you to consider how you’d tell it visually or through audio.
